Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has said that the energy issue cannot be resolved by short-term solutions and requires collective action.
“Qatar is looking forward to competing with Russia and the United States and competing with everyone in the field of energy,” Sheikh Mohammed told Al Jazeera on Tuesday.
The FM said, “The issue of energy requires collective action and that there should be joint cooperation between energy-exporting and consuming countries and commercial institutions that manage this issue.”
He continued, “We will not be part of a conflict or political polarization. As for commercial competition in the field of energy, it is an open competition, and we look forward to competing with Russia and the United States and competing with everyone, given that Qatar is one of the largest exporters of liquefied gas.”
He considered that “reducing the energy crisis in Europe to the Ukrainian crisis is unfair.”
He added, “Qatar explained, in talks with US President Joe Biden, its view on the energy crisis,” stressing that “energy issues in the world are not resolved in the short term, and they need collective action.”
