QC chairman inaugurates Al Warkaa-Rankoussi factory

Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani inaugurated Al Warkaa Rankoussi Factory in the Small and Medium Enterprises Zone on Sunday.
The factory is a full Qatari investment that is financed by Qatar Development Bank (QDB) with the aim to provide the local market with its requirements from textile, furniture, fabrics, and masks.
Held in adherence with the precautionary measures relating to COVID-19, the inauguration ceremony was attended by Sheikh Jassim bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Thani, Sheikh Ali bin Jassim bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Thani, founder, and chairman of the factory, and Wael Rankoussi, the general manager, alongside with a number of businessmen.
Following the opening ceremony, Sheikh Khalifa alongside all attendees toured the factory, where they were briefed on its various sections and production processes.
In a statement, Sheikh Khalifa stressed that Qatar Chamber’s constant support for SMEs and its encouragement to Qatar businessmen and investors to invest in this vital sector and in other industries that are necessary for the local market.
At the level of industrial development, he noted that Qatar SMEs sector had witnessed a remarkable development in recent years, indicating that the industry sector grew by 6 percent in 2020, and the number of factories amounted to 927 factories, with a total volume of investments amounted to QR263 billion.
The contribution of the industrial sector to the GDP increased from 7.3 percent in 2020 to 8.7 percent in the first half of 2021, which confirms the success of the state’s economic diversification strategy, he added.
On his part, Sheikh Ali bin Jassim bin Ahmed Al Thani, chairman of the factory, said that Al Warkaa-Rankoussi is established in partnership with Rankoussi Group for Trading and Industry with the aim to produce non-woven fabrics (Dacron), which is the primary material that is used in many industries such as furniture, mattresses, filters, and pillows.
It is the only factory in Qatar that manufactures these products, he stressed.
HE also noted that the factory manufactures all home furnishings, curtains of all types, blankets, hotel supplies, facial masks, and water filters.
Sheikh Ali bin Jassim thanked QDB for providing the financial support for the factory and Qatar Chamber for opening the factory and providing support for the local industry.
It is worth mentioning that Rankoussi Group is one of the largest leading companies in the field of industry and trade. It is active in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, and Canada.
