Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC), one of the largest mixed-use business incubators in the MENA region and a Qatar Development Bank (QDB) affiliate, is now accepting applications for the fourth wave of its “Lean Manufacturing Program” (LMP). The programme helps local and emerging companies develop their manufacturing capabilities and advance to their next stage of growth by upskilling them in key areas of factory operation and product development over the course of six weeks.
LMP targets manufacturing ventures in Qatar to support national and local industries. Participants in the programme are trained to develop their ideas under the mentorship of industry experts and local and international partners. Upon completion, selected companies can take advantage of a two-year incubation programme with QBIC.
The programme also provides entrepreneurs with a comprehensive and practical understanding of the manufacturing process through a series of hands-on training sessions based on lean principles. At the end of the programme, participants get the opportunity to present their achievements before a specialized committee towards obtaining funding, industrial workshops, and continuous training.
LMP comes with a special focus on the engineering, automotive, electronics, food and beverages, pharmaceutical, steel and minerals, and renewable energy sectors. Qatari and resident entrepreneurs with promising ideas and manufacturing companies can register for the programme at https://www.qbic.qa/lean-manufacturing-program by February 20, 2022.
Over the past years, the programme has succeeded in graduating a group of Qatari manufacturing companies that have gone on to contribute to economic diversification with their local products as well as exporting them regionally and globally through various platforms. The fourth wave of LMP is launched in line with the vision of QBIC and QDB as well as the Qatar National Vision 2030.
To support the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Qatar, QBIC offers a number of programs that cover all stages of a company’s growth. It also provides several specialized programs to promote economic diversification and develop the skills of entrepreneurs in the country, including the “Lean Acceleration Program” and the “Lean Coach Program”.
