Qatar’s gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices (real GDP) increased by 2.6 percent in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, according to the preliminary estimates of gross domestic product (GDP) at current and constant prices for the third quarter of 2021 released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) on Wednesday.
The quarterly GDP at constant prices shows an increase of 2.6 percent in the third quarter of 2021 to reach QR168.126 billion compared to the estimate of QR163.898 billion in the same quarter of 2020.
According to the PSA estimates, which have been produced with data collected through the Quarterly Economic Indicator Survey and from other source agencies, Qatar’s GDP at current prices (nominal GDP) increased by 40.6 percent in the third quarter of 2021 over the third quarter of 2020.
The quarterly GDP at current prices in Q3 of 2021 is estimated at QR176.225 billion. This represents an increase of 40.6 percent compared to the estimate of Q3 of 2020 placed at QR125.325 billion.
When compared to the revised estimate of QR156.289 billion in the second quarter of 2021, an increase of 12.8 percent has been recorded.
Gross value added at constant 2018 prices for Mining and Quarrying activities decreased by 0.7 percent in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same quarter in 2020.
Gross value added at constant 2018 prices for Non-Mining and Quarrying activities increased by 4.7 percent in the third quarter of 2021, year on year.
When compared to the revised estimate of QR161.712 billion in Q2 of 2021, an increase of 4 percent is also recorded. The nominal gross value added (GVA) estimate of Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR67.976 billion in Q3 2021, which shows an increase of 101.9 percent over the estimate of Q3 2020 placed at QR 33,674 billion.
Compared to the previous quarter revised estimate (QR57.493 billion), an increase of 18.2 percent in the GVA of this sector is recorded.
The real GVA of these activities is estimated at QR62.685 billion in Q3 2021, which shows a decrease of 0.7 percent compared to the estimate of QR 63.151 billion in Q3 of 2020.
Compared to the revised estimate of QR 63.146 billion in Q2 of 2021, a decrease of 0.7 percent in the real GVA of this sector is also recorded.
The nominal GVA of Non-Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR108.249 billion in Q3 of 2021, which shows an increase of 18.1 percent over the estimate of QR91.651 billion in Q3 of 2020. Compared to the revised estimate of QR 98.796 billion in the previous quarter, an increase of 9.6 percent is recorded.
The real GVA of Non-Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at QR 105.441 billion in Q3 of 2021, which shows an increase of 4.7 percent over the estimate of QR100.746 billion in Q3 of 2020. When compared to the revised estimate of QR98.566 billion in Q2 of 2021, an increase of 7 percent is also recorded.
