Qatar’s national products are more competitive: says QC’s Sheikh Khalifa

Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani has hailed the “1000 Opportunities Initiative”, which was launched by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry during the “National Product Week”, noting that it allows local investors to obtain investment opportunities offered by major foreign and local companies operating in Qatar.
The initiative offers an opportunity for small and medium-sized companies to develop their products and services and become more competitive in the Qatari market, Sheikh Khalifa said, adding that it will be of a good advantage to the private sector to play a larger role in the economic activity.
In a statement on the sidelines of his participation in the “National Product Week” held on Sunday at the MoCI headquarters, Sheikh Khalifa pointed out that the national product has proven efficiency in the local market and foreign markets as well, stressing that local products have become more competitive with imported products in terms of price and quality, which contributed to raising the rates of increasing the State’s self-sufficiency.
QC Chairman also lauded the efforts made by the ministry to support the local market, especially SMEs, affirming that this will reflect positively on the national economy.
He also confirmed the ministry’s role in enhancing communication between SMEs and government bodies, praising the interest of government entities to increase their purchases of locally manufactured products.
