Qatar-Mexico businessmen council being pursued: QC

Qatar Chamber (QC) has held a meeting with Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard on the sidelines of the Doha Forum to review economic and commercial relations and explore investment climate and opportunities available in the two countries.
The meeting touched on enhancing cooperation ties between businesspersons from the two countries and the possibility of establishing a joint council for Qatari and Mexican businessmen.
From QC side, the meeting was headed by QC Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani. It was also attended by a number of QC board members, as well as Ambassador of Mexico to Qatar HE Graciela Gomez Garcia.
Addressing the meeting, Ebrard praised the robust relations between the two countries, expressing his keenness on forging genuine partnership between business sectors of both countries.
The minister called on Qatari businesspersons to invest in Mexico, saying that it has an attractive climate for investments and offers a lot of opportunities in various sectors.
Sheikh Khalifa lauded the close relations between Qatar and Mexico in all fields, especially in economic and commercial areas, citing the common desire of both sides to further underpin cooperation links at the level of private sector, in a way that helps increase their mutual investments and develop their bilateral trade volume.
He noted that the trade exchange between the two countries last year amounted to QR885 million, an increase of 8 percent compared with the previous year.
The QC chairman said the Chamber was urging Qatari businesspersons to explore investment opportunities available in Mexico and enhance cooperation with their Mexican counterparts through establishing new partnerships and alliances, whether in Qatar or Mexico.
