Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani met with Malaysian Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Zuraida Kamaruddin at the Chamber’s headquarters on Wednesday.
They discussed cooperation relations between the Qatari and Malaysia private sectors in the commercial and economic fields and ways to enhance and develop them.
They also reviewed the investment climate and opportunities available in both countries in agriculture and food security fields and the possibility to forge partnerships between companies and businessmen from both sides.
Speaking during the meeting, Sheikh Khalifa praised the close relations between both countries, affirming that over the recent years they witnessed significant development in all sectors and fields.
The two countries trade exchange hit last year QR2.4 billion, compared with QR 1.8bn in 2020, showing an increase by 38 percent, he noted adding that Malaysia is one of Qatar’s important trade partners.
Sheikh Khalifa emphasized the Chamber’s support for the Qatar-Malaysia business council that was established in 2017, assuring its keenness to perform its role in enhancing cooperation between both countries’ business sectors.
He assured that there are many Malaysian companies that are operating in Qatar in various sectors, while there are many Qatari investments in Malaysia in sectors like tourism, banking, real estate, and industry.
For her part, Malaysian Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Zuraida Kamaruddin praised the boom Qatar witnesses in all fields, reviewing the sectors in which both sides can cooperate such as construction, infrastructure, agriculture, halal, and SMEs.
Zuraida invited Qatari investors and businessmen to invest in her country which offers a plenty of opportunities in various sectors, stressing the importance of strengthening commercial and investment cooperation between both countries.
During the meeting, the Malaysian minister invited QC members to participate in the Malaysian International Agri commodity Expo and Summit (MIACES 2022) scheduled to be held from 26-28 July 2022 in Kuala
