Qatar Chamber seeks to activate Qatar-Morocco Business Council

Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari on Sunday met with president of the Moroccan side in the Qatar-Morocco Business Council Mohamed Baida in the presence of vice president of the Qatari side in the council Ismail Al Ansari.
The meeting discussed ways of enhancing cooperation between Qatari and Moroccan companies and investment opportunities available in both friendly countries, in addition to activating the Qatar-Morocco Business Council and the possibility of establishing alliances between companies from both sides.
Addressing the meeting, Twar stressed the strong relations between both countries and the common will to strengthen economic and commercial relations, noting that Morocco is a promising market and offers a lot of opportunities that attract Qatari businessmen.
He also pointed out that despite the remarkable growth of trade exchange between both countries during the last five years, from QR330 million in 2017 to about QR754 million last year, an increase of 130 percent, it is still below the aspirations of the two countries.
There are 80 Moroccan companies operating in Qatar in partnership with Qatari companies in various fields including hospitality, trading, contracting, fashion, and business solutions, he noted.
For his part, Baida said that there are many Moroccan companies that are willing to invest in Qatar, indicating that Qatar offers an attractive investment climate and a myriad of investment opportunities that attract the interest of Moroccan companies.
He noted that General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, to which the joint business councils are affiliated, include more than 90,000 companies, and seeks to enhance Moroccan foreign commercial relations.
On his part, Ismail Al Ansari assured the importance of activating the Qatar-Morocco Business Council, noting that there is strong desire for Qatari businessmen to strengthen cooperation with their Moroccan counterparts and discuss forging investment partnerships in various fields.
