GAC receives ISO 27001 certification

The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has received ISO27001:2013 certifications specialized in the governance and security of information for all joint government services.
GAC said that BQC granted it an ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certificate for complying with all ISO standards requirements, noting that obtaining the certificate came within the framework of developing government work and keenness on adopting and applying the best international standards in information security.
Assistant Chairman for Services and Support Affairs of GAC Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Maadeed said that obtaining the certificate is the result of a major effort made during the past period, and is an effective step in terms of applying the latest international standards in the field of information security management, and a sign of GAC’s interest for the protection of data of the employees and customers.
He said that the new certificate enhances the efficiency of employees’ productivity in light of their presence in a developed work environment according to the latest systems, which contributes to maintaining business continuity in cases of disasters and testing the efficiency of systems and personnel, including technicians and administrators, in various normal and emergency conditions to ensure the flow of work. This is an assessment of resource management, including equipment, software, servers, and networks, as well as human resources, their efficiency, and their commitment to quality and security standards, he added.
The International Standard ISO27001:2013 is one of the best standards for the performance and efficiency of technical and technical procedures and information security and in providing electronic services, focusing on protecting information security in storage, trading, processing, and analyzing.
It also assesses access security for encrypted and unencrypted systems and information, as well as data and information exchanges between systems and individuals, whether readable, audible, or visible, extending this certificate to risk management.
