‘Turkey a distinguished investment destination for Qataris’

Qatar Chamber held on Wednesday a virtual meeting to review investment opportunities in Turkish technology and tourism sector. The meeting was presided over by QC vice-chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari and President of the Investment Office of Turkey A. Burak Daglioglu.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Turkey to Qatar HE Mustafa Goksu, alongside a number of leading businessmen from the two countries.
The webinar touched on enhancing cooperation between Qatari and Turkish in tourism and technology sectors and opportunities galore in both sides.
Addressing the webinar, Twar praised the close relations between both countries at all fields, especially in the economic and commercial aspects, noting that Turkey is one of the most important trade partners to Qatar, citing their trade volume hit last year QR6.8 billion.
As for mutual investments, he noted that there many Turkish companies operating in Qatar in various sectors such as trading, contracting, construction, health sector, services, technology, industry hospitality and furnishing.
QC first vice-chairman stressed that Turkey is a distinguished destination for Qatari investors, pointing out that there are many successful Qatari investments there in many sectors such as real estate and tourism.
He underscored that Qatar Chamber highly supports Qatari businessmen to increase their investments in Turkey and enhance cooperation with their Turkish counterparts in forging alliances and partnerships, whether in Qatar or Turkey, calling on Turkish companies to maximize their investments in Qatar and benefit from its sophisticated infrastructure and its pro-investment environment.
On his part, Daglioglu invited Qataris to direct their investments to Turkey which enjoys an attractive investment climate, noting there are numerous incentives and facilities to attract Qatari investors in all sectors.
He lauded the robust relations between both countries, noting that over the recent year many Qataris invested in the real estate and tourism sectors.
He also invited Qatari investors to visit Tourism Investment Forum 2022 which is the largest event in this sector in Turkey. Daglioglu also stressed that about $1.6bn investments were established by entrepreneurs in Turkey last year, indicating that 90 percent of these investments are foreign direct investments.
For his part, ambassador Goksu emphasized the strong relations between both countries, noting that there is a significant interest from both sides to develop their trade and investment cooperation.
Goksu also said there are many incentives for Qataris, pointing out that a number of representatives in the Investment Office are appointed to help Qatari investors who are willing to invest in Turkey.
