Olympic Cycling Track rest & parking lounge now ready

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has completed the works on rest and parking lounge for the Olympic Cycling Track on Al Khor Road, which includes a park and service facilities for cyclists.
The rest lounge is located at the beginning of the Olympic cycling track, near the Golf Signal, on a total area of about 36,800 square meters. It provides parking, cycle service and maintenance kiosks, fitness area, Masjid, washrooms, and a green area along 13,000 square meters.
Eng Hassan Al Mojaba from the Highway Projects Department clarified that Ashghal has built a rest lounge that includes a park and many other facilities to serve cyclists and park visitors.
He pointed out that the kiosks will provide services for cyclists of Olympic Cycling Track, including a bicycle shop for rental, maintenance and selling.
It will also include restaurants, cafeteria and supermarkets that are currently under bidding.
He added that the rest lounge also includes parking slots for bicycles and cars, as well as rest benches and prayer rooms, which will attract many people to use the Olympic Cycling Track.
The project includes building 167 car parking slots, 57 bicycle parking slots, and a fitness area covered with a canopy containing 15 equipment. The Masjid built in the facility includes space for 150 worshippers, Imam’s room, washrooms, and ablution area.
The project also includes plantation along 13,000 sqm with 197 trees, provision of five multi-purpose commercial kiosks already built and planned 10 more kiosks on an area of 24 sqm , besides building a shop for maintenance and rental of bicycles on an area of 60 sqm. Additionally, a maintenance building is built for Ashghal, and it includes office of Qatar Cyclist Club, besides washrooms, and seating provisions for visitors.
It is worth noting that the Olympic Cycling Track has obtained the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest continuous cycle track with a length of about 33 km. In this regard, Ashghal is keen to provide services and facilities that serve cyclists and encourage them to practice this sport.
